Week 11

This week I practiced "Folsom Prison Blues" and "You really got me".

I started off by practicing "Folsom Prison Blues". I forgot the drumming pattern so for the first few run throughs it did not sound very good then I looked up the drum pattern and realised that I was the issue and after that I played the correctly. After that hiccup, the song went really well, and I personally believe after a few minor improvements it will be ready to be performed. One of the improvements that we need to do is guitar tones so I sat down with the amps and put in tones that I thought worked and then asked the guitarists to use them and add or take away whatever they want to make as good as possible and once we did this the song sounded good. That also means we will be able to practice for longer so that we do not have to take as long getting ready to practice.

Once I finished practicing "Folsom Prison Blues" I moved onto "You Really Got Me".

We started by playing a run through of the song and we did not like how it sounded. We decided to change up the way we were playing it and then we did a few more run throughs. We changed up the tempo, the key, and the instruments. With all of these combined we still did not like the way the song sounded so we played our best version in front of the class so that we could get some constructive criticism. Once we had played it in front of the class and gotten their feedback and read through it all we decided to cut the song because it needed too much work for the amount of time that we have left to get it ready for the performance. Some of the things that would've taken too long to learn are, the drum pattern because of how complex it is, the tones on the bass and guitar did not fit no matter what we tried to use.

After I had finished practicing those 2 main songs, I moved on to practice by myself.

I practiced different drumming techniques in the practice rooms, I worked on my 16th note usage and different ways to play songs. I did this for about an hour for the days that I was in college. After every session, this week I refreshed myself on some of the sings that have not played in a while.
