Week 5
This week we started to do a timeline; we learnt that a timeline is really useful to keep yourself in time with the schedule that you have, it also allows you to gauge where you are at compared to the deadline you may or may not have. A timeline is crucial to make sure that everyone on the project keeps to their allotted time with what they have to do for the project. This means if anyone begins to drop behind in their work, they can see how far behind they are or in the opposite case see how far ahead they are if they are getting the assignments done early.
For organizational purposes a timeline is one of the best things you can use because it allows you to make sure you are on track and you know what you will have to do next and for when, this should allow you to have a better work flow because you are constantly working toward many minor goals which help you build up for the one big goal you are where working towards from the beginning.
For coordination purposes it allows you to emphasize each role in the project which allows people to know what they are doing, and it also allows people to do the things they are better at than others which means the quality of the work will be at a higher standard. It also allows you to involve other parties. In our case it means we can involve the photography department to help us with the promotional material and help us boost our marketing.
For accountability purposes it allows you to be able to see what was done and what is not done with the project, and you will be able to hold everyone accountable who was involved in the section of the project that was not done or that was not done to an acceptable standard. This makes people foster a sense of commitment and responsibility making them work quicker and at a higher quality making the overall project better overall.
This week we also learned about the significance of a market plan. A market plan is a plan that allows you to see what you are doing or what you are going to do to promote the event of which you will be marketing. Some things that you could do is promote the event by using posters in high traffic area, you will need to make sure that they stand out from the others and that they can be easily understood by the general public. You can also use leaflets handed out to people with all of the relevant information on it so that people can understand the general details of the event. You could also put special offers on for pre-booking tickets or buying, multiple tickets at once where it would be cheaper than usual.
For the purpose of audience engagement, it can allow you to hype up and event making it a point of interest in the eye of the public. Marketing creates excitement which will bring in more money and more attendees making you more money from all of the other things you may or may not have at the event.
Marketing also gives your brand more visibility. This can happen by having a really good event that the people of whom attended enjoyed giving them the association of the name of that brand which good events that are worth attending allowing you to gain more money in the long run and have more attendees over the life span of the event.
The marketing plan directly impacts the ticket sales because if there is no promotion for the event no one will know of its existence so no one will buy tickets therefore not attend the event meaning you will not earn any money from the sale of tickets.
This week we also learned about how to utilise these documents to the best of our ability for the live show. We explored the best ways to effectively use these documents to allow us the best outcome for the live performance, we did this by going in depth on what the documents contents are and what they will tell us about the live show and all the prep that will be needed for the event.
For the timeline we looked at who was good at what in the form of set up and paperwork to help use streamline what could be done by who and for when and that will allow us to have a steady work rate and then allow us to be able to make good progress on all the preparation for the live show.
For the marketing document we let the members of the marketing team we put together figure out what they are going to do in the form, of promotion for the event. They were throwing out ideas constantly of different ways they could promote the event, they produced posters, radio adverts, word of mouth, flyers, going out on the street and more.
The execution guidance the timeline will give us will allow us to be able to make sure that everything will be done by a certain time allowing people to focus on different things making sure there are no overlapping of documents that are being completed. The timeline also gives us a measure that we can refer back to whenever we get a document complete allowing us to properly gauge where we are in terms of preparation for the live event.
The promotional strategies that we have chosen will allow us to have hem made and put out to the public in a span of time that will keep us on time. Also, the strategies that we have used allow us to save more money due to how cheap they are. The marketing strategies that we have chosen for the event are Posters, Radio Advertisement, word of mouth, flyers and going out onto the street. All of these strategies can all be done for cheap and can be completed in the time frame of which we are allotted by the timeline.
This week I did not do much practice but the practice I did at home was just polishing off different techniques for different songs to allow me to be able to play different fills. I also practiced songs like "Paranoid" and "Let's get it on". With paranoid I just practiced playing the song over and over again adding fills where I can give the song more depth. For "Let's get it on" I kept playing the song to get used to the bar chords and I did not continue with the song until I got the intro right. The reason why I was struggling was because of the string bend at the end of the intro and I just cannot get the strings to where I want them to be to get the sound I want. The thing I was messing up on was going from Gm to Bb for some reason whenever I try to play these chords right my fingers do not go all the way and either get caught in a different string or they just do not push down hard enough so the chord sounds really bad. The way I will improve on this it by playing the song more and practice
