Week 10

November 25, 2024   This week I practiced the song I felt like needed the most work done to them.    I started off with the song "She Bangs the Drum". I started off by playing a round of 16th notes and then moving into a regular r hythm to get myself used to the change of switching between the 2 different techniques of drumming. I did this by myself in one of the practice rooms.    After I finished doing this I began to practice with the band, we got a few run throughs, and we tweaked a few things but overall, the song is going well.   After this I worked on the song "She's Electric". This song has a steady beat, and it stays at the same tempo throughout the entire song, and it is difficult for me to consistently stay at that tempo without swaying. The way I practiced this is by playing to a metronome; I made sure to play the song to the tempo of the metronome and if I got it wrong, I would restart and keep playing until I got at least 5 run throughs o...

Week 9

This week I focused more on practicing. To start off the week I practiced the songs that I have down but not completely polished off. This consisted of me playing Paranoid a few times with the band and then more at home, along with Handle with care, let us get it on, and She bangs the drum. I played through these songs a few times each by myself and with the band.    Once I had done thes e songs I moved onto some new ones. "Cherry bomb" by Joan Jett and "She's Electric" by Oasis.   We started off with Cherry Bomb which didn't go very well due to the coordination of the band and the fact the singer didn't like the way she sounded on the song; so we decided to scrap the song before we got to close to the gig and had to follow through with it considering we didn't like the song. The drum pattern was also too simple, and it became really easy to lose track of where I was in the song. After that I moved onto, She's electric. The song has a qui...

Week 8

This week I worked on my proposal document. this document covers everything that will or has been done for the prep and the live event itself, along with everything else that was taken into consideration.   To begin with I started off with the audience and with this I had a look at the type of songs of which we are playing at the gig and figured out who would like it the most and then target the marketing towards them. We discovered that the songs we are doing will cater to an older generation from late teens to grandparents.      After I did this, I then moved onto the artistic vision. I discussed the gig with my classmate's ad we decided that the gig will be called "Through the Decades". We also decided on the overall mood of the event, we decided to have the first song metaphorically "punch you in the face" with its energy and feel of the song then as the gig progresses we will lower the energy then we will start to ramp it up for the last song to be the mo...
