Week 4

This week I mainly focused on catching up other documents and assignments that I had to complete. For the documents that I needed to complete where: my stage plan, channel list, equipment list and my risk assessment.

For the stage plan I had to finish the plan itself; I had to make the differences in the equipment more distinct so that someone could easily differentiate each piece of equipment, I did this by adding symbols to each piece of equipment and also colour coordinating them so people can see what needs power and what doesn't. I also added colour to stage itself so people can tell what the stage is and what is not. I also added a section for the drum kit with all the pieces and the way it will need to be set up.

For the channel list I needed to add more differences to each of the columns and I did this by adding a solid colour to the headings of the columns and then adding a more faded colour of the same solid colour to the rest of the rows in the column.

For my equipment list I needed to add more pieces of the overall set up, so I looked up the name of everything needed in building a drum kit and then added it to the list. I also needed to make everything more clear so that if someone was just taking a skim over the document, they will be able to clearly tell what was what and what are things are connected to one another. I did this by adding symbols to each of the pieces of equipment to show what has a connection to what and what needs power and what does not. I also added coloured columns to give more variety between each piece of equipment.

For the risk assessment I needed to add more detail to each of the risks so what I did was go to the stage and see what could happen if those risks where occur. I did this by imagining if it were to happen what areas it could affect and see how much damage could occur. After I finished doing this servery, I took notes on everything, and then I went into greater detail on the document, and I fleshed everything out to make sure that the people reading will fully know what could happen and how bad that occurrence could be. I also researched some of the legalities of a risk assessment document to see what I need legally to make sure that the document can be held up in the eyes of the law making it so there is not as much of a legal risk.

This week I mainly focused on practicing "Paranoid". I sat by myself and played the song as many times as I could without stopping in the middle of the song, when I felt I had a sufficient number of attempts that I got the full way through I moved onto practicing with the band. We got a lot of run throughs done ad then once we felt like we were ready we recorded a run through an showed it to our classmates to get feedback on the run through to help us improve. We got feedback to work on dynamics and to stay on tempo and not to drag or rush, so we will be working on this in future performances. We will work on this by playing together with someone else in the room who will not be playing an instrument and get them to tell us when we are being too loud or too quiet. We could also write down which parts go louder or quieter on a piece of paper or a white board and go from that.
